Omliva exists for one moment: the day a family has to step in and does not know where anything is. We write guides for the people preparing for that moment and for the people living through it, and we are building a self-service family guide so that the preparation takes a few short sessions instead of a weekend with a spreadsheet.
Who we are
We are a small team of writers, researchers and product people. Some of us have settled an estate, some have helped a parent get organized, and all of us have sat with a folder of papers wondering what mattered. We publish under the Omliva name rather than individual bylines because every guide is a group effort: one person drafts it, another checks every figure against its source, and a third reads it the way a family member would. The team name is the promise. It does not change when a person does.
We are not lawyers, accountants or financial planners, and nothing on this site is legal, tax, financial or medical advice. Where a question needs a professional, the guide says so and explains what kind.
How we work
Every guide starts with primary sources: the Social Security Administration, the IRS, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, state court self-help sites, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the companies that make the tools people actually use. Every number carries its source and the date we checked it, and a numbered references list sits at the end of each guide. When a rule changes, the guide changes, and the "Updated" date under the title tells you when. Our editorial policy explains the sourcing, review and corrections process in full.
We use AI writing tools to draft and to check consistency. A person decides what goes in, and every figure is verified against the source it cites before a page is published.
What we are building
The guides are free and will stay free. The product is a guided walkthrough: you answer plain questions in short sessions, at your own pace, and Omliva turns the answers into a large-type family guide that says who to call, where documents are, what accounts exist, and what you want. You keep it current in your account, and every change updates the guide. A printed edition is planned.
